West Bank of the Flats
The land along both sides of the Cuyahoga River is flat that's why they call it the Flats.
From the mid 80's to the late 90's the Flats had a National Reputation as Party Heaven. The East Bank is now plowed under and being rebuilt. The West Bank is still alive with entertainment.
Cuyahoga means "crooked river" / 27 bridges cross the river / the river forms the letter "U" in the state of Ohio / J. D. Rockefeller owned the largest oil refinery on the Cuyahoga River in 1922 / the river fire in 1969 is responsible for the Clean Water Act.
The East Bank of the Flats
The East Bank is plowed under and awaiting to be rebuilt. Eaton backed out of the project...and caused a delay. 20 years ago Cleveland had the most Fortune 500 companies...ask the politicians what happened?
