Public Square in the center of Downtown. The Rapid Transit runs west to the Airport and east near University Circle. It's relatively safe. Of course you will meet a few characters on any public transportation.
The city sandblasted the pollution from the steel mills off the top of the tower. It will stay clean the steel mills are shut down. Money well spent?
At the base of the Tower there are movie theaters, fast food joints and some low end stores...people are disappointed with the Downtown shopping.
The water fountains are nice. Coins in the fountains are down...I only scooped out 27 pennies last night.
The Renaissance Hotel and the Ritz Carlton are connected to the Tower City Mall.
Tower City is a nice place to take a walk for exercise if the weather is bad. From Tower City you can walk underground to the "Q" Arena for basketball, hockey, concerts etc.
